I saw two different chamber operas by Philip Glass when I was in Chicago, both at Court Theater, In the Penal Colony and The Sound of a Voice (with Min Xiao-Fen on pipa), and liked both of them a good deal. This, however, just doesn't seem promising.

It does seem like an attempt to cram way too much into a rather thin storyline.
